Originally from the Dominican Republic, 16 year-old Genesis Tejada-Peralta is a junior at the Franklin Learning Center. She has an older sister who lives in the Dominican Republic and an older brother. Genesis resides in Philadelphia.
Genesis has always had a knack for writing, which prompted her to join her school’s newspaper. She has written about, among other things, the uniform policy at Franklin Learning Center and President Trump’s executive order restricting travel.
Genesis’ coursework includes AP English, and she also attends a sociology class taught by an Arcadia professor.
Outside of the classroom, Genesis enjoys playing piano and guitar and watching volleyball. She hopes to attend New York University and focus her studies on English and writing.
From the Acel Moore Workshop, Genesis hopes to gain knowledge from journalists about what their career entails, and she also hopes to find a connection between creative writing and journalism.
