School: Abington Senior High School

Grade: 11th

Background/interests/hobbies: Some of my interests consist of writing, art, and cooking. I do various clubs pertaining to that. I have also been a part of Girls Inc., a girls-only group that focuses on community-action projects where other girls and I work together to fund, volunteer, and plan out different things. This year, we are focusing on women going through homelessness. I have been a part of this for the past three years. I actually found out about this opportunity through the program. I also volunteer at other places, including a cat shelter, which I have also been volunteering at for three years, and church.

Reason for applying to the workshop: The reason I applied to this workshop was because I thought the opportunity would be great, since I’ve always loved to write stories. The main thing I want out of this is to learn. I want to learn more about how to improve and expand my writing, more about what journalism is really about, and more about how I can incorporate writing into my future career path.

Future plans: My future plans are to go to college after high school. I have a few ideas of what I want to do but I am not 100% sure as of right now, which is why I am trying to do workshops like this.
