Background/interests/hobbies: Amani is active in her school community. She is president of the French Club, a leader of the Black Student Union, and a member for students voices’ representative. She also shows herself to be very athletic, having been involved in basketball, soccer, and track. Outside of school, she has many interests, including traveling, singing, listening to music, and watching Netflix.

Reason for applying for the workshop: Amani decided to apply to this workshop not only to improve her writing skills but also to meet new people with similar interests.

Looking ahead: Amani’s focus for her future is to continue with basketball in college, specifically aiming to attend the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and major in journalism or another major.
