What first started out as project about black beauty in the community has changed to a photo essay about black excellence at Mastery Charter Pickett Campus. This series of photos explores what happens when students meets the camera during Black History Month. The portraits show pride and confidence of the models in their skin. How they will continue to glow no matter what lighting condition they’re in. It allows people outside of the school to truly see the personality of not only students but also the deans of the school as they wear various clothing items whether it be a school uniform, a hijab or a dashiki.
