Photos: An Immigrant Landmark at Risk

The Hoa Binh Plaza in South Philadelphia has a rich history, serving Philadelphia communities since the 1990s. The luxury developer, Streamline is planning to tear down this retail area to build a new apartment complex. The closure of the plaza, with its ten businesses, would result in the loss of about 50 full-time jobs, The community is enraged and has since been petitioning against the decision, they feel is linked to the gentrification of the area.
