Program director receives PABJ president’s award

Program director Oscar Miller received a President’s Award on Oct. 27 at the Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists  Annual Gala. The surprise award was bestowed on Oscar for his exemplary work in keeping the Acel Moore High School Journalism Workshop flourishing for decades.

The award was presented by outgoing PABJ president Melony Roy of KYW Newsradio.  Recipients of the President’s Award are chosen at the discretion of the chapter president.  In the spirit of the honor, the president chooses honorees who deserve special recognition for their journalistic  achievements and/or their service to PABJ and the community.

And it was certainly a fitting tribute as all of the organization’s founders were honored on PABJ’s 45th anniversary. Acel Moore was a founder of both the PABJ and the National Association of Black Journalists that followed.

Kristin Holmes nominated Oscar, so thank you to her too.
