Elana Kopelman, 15, is a sophomore at Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy. She resides in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania, located right outside of Philadelphia.
At school, she is the editor-at-large of her school newspaper, The Cougar Chronicle. She is also a member of her school’s Varsity girls’ lacrosse team. Outside of school, she is on a girls league ice-hockey team.
Her interests also include architecture, science, fashion, and design. She is particularly interested in biology and genetics. She recently won an academic achievement award for biology. She says she likes science because she likes things with an answer. She believes that her brain works with numbers rather than ideas. She is still undecided on whether or not she would like to pursue an occupation in the field of science.
Elana prides herself as goal-oriented and hardworking, dividing her effort and energy into schoolwork but also relaxing. On the weekends, she likes to spend times with her friends and family, but she also likes to get ahead on her schoolwork because of her challenging courses. Elana is the oldest in her family, which includes one other sibling: her younger brother, Jacob, 12.
From this experience, Elana would like to find new passions and improve her writing. She hopes to find other interests to help guide her through what she would like to do in life.
