Kelsey Carolan

Kelsey Carolan, 17, is a junior at Philadelphia Academy Charter High School.  She lives in Philadelphia with her mother, father, and twin sister, Bridget.

One of Kelsey’s major hobbies is dance, which she started practicing at five years old.  She is on the tap dance and hip-hop team at the “Dance 4 U” studio in Cheltenham and takes part in a yearly recital.

Kelsey is also interested in Model United Nations (Model UN), an extra-curricular in which students imitate United Nations conferences and committees.  As the Vice President of her school’s Model UN team (2016-present), Kelsey helps organize the team’s trip to the Ivy League Model United Nations Conference (ILMUNC) each year.  In fact, Kelsey role-played the lead delegate for the 2017 conference.

One of Kelsey’s major accomplishments is being selected by the National Honor Society, a national organization for high school students honoring academics and community service. Kelsey was one out of seven students in her grade chosen by the organization.

In addition, Kelsey is passionate about journalism.  Her dream is to become a professional political correspondent at a news organization.  In order to jump-start this aspiration, in July 2016, she attended the Washington Journalism and Media Conference, which was held at George Mason University for aspiring journalists.  Kelsey also improves her journalism skills by frequently watching and reading current news.
